Sessions: Sessions are non – exclusive, and so open to new members throughout the year until maximum capacity is reached.  The maximum number of children enrolled in a session is 21, including babies.

Session Representation: All sessions must provide a Session Leader (representative) and a Committee Member who are expected to attend committee meetings and pass on email circulars.   These position should be held for the duration of the year, however if the representative resigns the session must provide a replacement immediately.

Committee meetings: Committee Meetings are held every quarter: February, May, and August, and the AGM is held in November.  Committee members and Session leaders are expected to attend in order to provide a voice for their Session.  Repeated failure to provide representation will jeopordise the maintenance of the position for that session as decisions can be impacted if there is inadequate representation.

Insurance: Hacket PG membership includes payment to Playgroup WA for insurance. This insurance covers carers aged 18 – 90 who are financial members and replacement carers aged 18 – 90 who are parents, grandparents or family members of a financial member, whilst carrying out duties associated with Playgroup and authorised by a Playgroup Committee Member.  Dependant children 0 – 18 years of a Financial Member are also covered whilst in attendance at Hackett PG.  It is very important that your attendance is logged at each session for insurance purposes.

Facilities: Hackett PG is run by community members on a voluntary basis. It is imperative that every effort is made by members to keep our facilities clean & tidy.  Small tasks are assigned to your sessions according to the school term calendar and it is your responsibility to know what these are, and ensure they are completed.  Please leave the premises as you expect to find it – see Session cleaning guide for a checklist of what’s expected.

Duty of Care: Parents/carers have a duty of care to all members of the public, including children, whilst attending playgroup. All efforts should be made to avoid situations where it can be proven your actions are negligent.

Parents/carers are fully responsible for the safety and discipline of their own children and/or those in their care and they should take all necessary steps to ensure accidents do not happen. Children should be supervised at all times. Supervision of children should always be by a specific responsible adult who has agreed with the parents to take care of the child. It is the duty of all individuals to ensure they protect the children in their care from injury. Childminding is not a part of Playgroup and under no circumstances may you leave your child on the premises without a guardian.

Members should be aware that they are not permitted by law to restrain or smack another person’s child. Action by children or adults which may place the Playgroup in a liable situation cannot be permitted and every effort should be made to ensure that this situation does not occur.
